The Opportunity
This role performs a variety of VFX management/coordination duties spanning all Netflix-branded live-action original projects with a focus on scripted content. This role will support the Manager, VFX, Japan across a variety of duties spanning all projects within the region. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, quick-thinking, flexible, able to pivot when necessary, thorough, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities with a strong emphasis on organization and unwavering attention to detail at all times. This is a demanding and fast-moving position that requires someone who is a positive thinker, an effective communicator, and able to exercise good judgment and initiative. This role will be based in our Tokyo office.
Core Responsibilities:
- Track the VFX progress of Netflix-branded Japan titles
- Set up and/or take notes during all meetings, maintain weekly agendas
- Help design, standardize, and implement new workflow/tracking methods for projects to ensure transparency of progress in partnership with the Manager, VFX Japan
- Liaise and coordinate between vendors, crew, and internal teams to improve cross-vertical information flow, provide support on Netflix tools, and manage schedules
- Support creating VFX shot breakdown and VFX schedule from scripts/treatments during early development
- Maintain data, files, and tracking documents in alignment with the Netflix VFX team and cross-functional partners
- Sync with post-production to set up reviews and provide guidance on VFX-related matters where necessary
- Collect data on VFX projects and the market for current and future title and team VFX strategy
- Proactively communicate with APAC VFX teams to exchange best practices and gather insights to improve the Japan workflow
- Maintain the most up-to-date notes on current and potential international vendors
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a VFX/CG coordinator or VFX/CG production manager handling film, series, TV/Web commercials, streaming, or games
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, supervising several projects at various points of production (from development through delivery)
- Strong organizational skills with a proactive mentality and creative problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with production software such as Autodesk Flow Production Tracking(ex-Shotgrid) as well as Google Suite
- A strong understanding of VFX workflow and Pipeline
- Working knowledge of VFX facilities (e.g. virtual production facilities) and DI/finishing facilities is ideal
- Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable with a fast pace and constant change
- Team player who operates in a fast-paced team-oriented setting
- Passionate about our culture and values in the workplace
- Fluency in Japanese and Business-level English is mandatory
- Some international travel is expected
