**About the Role**

Uber is seeking a seasoned and dynamic leader to join our team as the **Director of Fleets, Japan**. This senior leadership role is pivotal in driving supply growth, including acquiring new fleet partners (i.e. taxi and other transportation partners), managing key accounts, and optimizing sales operations.

The Director of Fleets will play a critical role in defining Uber’s supply strategy in Japan, enhancing sales and account management initiatives, and ensuring seamless integration of new supply partners into Uber’s mobility ecosystem. This is one of the most senior roles within the mobility business and demands a leader with a sharp strategic vision and hands-on leadership skills.

**What You'll Do**

- **Comprehensive Fleet Leadership:** Lead a diverse portfolio spanning all aspects of supply acquisition, from identifying and onboarding new fleet partners to maintaining and growing strong, long-term relationships. Ensure that the entire lifecycle of fleet operations aligns with Uber’s strategic objectives.
- **Fleet Partner Acquisition and Development:** Spearhead efforts to acquire new fleet partners, ensuring efficient onboarding and providing the tools and resources they need to succeed within the Uber ecosystem.
- **Account Management:** Strengthen and expand partnerships with existing fleet partners, driving operational success and securing the supply required to fuel Uber’s growth trajectory.
- **Strategic Sales Operations:** Design and implement initiatives to optimize supply growth while building scalable and sustainable sales operations.
- **Holistic Oversight:** Take ownership of all fleet partner engagement and supply management functions, including acquisition, operations, compliance, and relationship management.
- **Cross-functional Collaboration:** Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, regulatory, policy, customer service, and marketing) to align fleet operations with Uber’s broader business strategy and customer experience goals.
- **Be the Voice of Fleet Partners:** Act as the primary advocate for fleet partners, ensuring their challenges and feedback are incorporated into Uber’s decision-making processes.
- **Mentorship and Leadership:** Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team responsible for fleet operations, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and results-driven performance.
- **Ensure Compliance:** Partner with legal and regulatory teams to ensure fleet operations comply with all local regulations while balancing the needs of fleet partners and the business.
- **Future Vision:** Drive the evolution of Uber’s fleet strategy by exploring new technologies, partnerships, and operational models to shape the future of mobility.

**What You'll Need**

- **Experience:** 10+ years in operations and sales within mobility, transportation, or tech industries.
- **Leadership:** Demonstrated success in building and managing high-performing teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- **Strategic Thinking:** Proven ability to craft and execute long-term strategic initiatives while managing day-to-day operational priorities.
- **Customer Focus:** Strong understanding of fleet partner needs and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- **Data-Driven:** Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to use data to make informed decisions, monitor performance, and achieve business objectives.
- **Communication:** Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to distill complex information and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- **Stakeholder Management:** Expertise in managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including fleet partners, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams.
- **Adaptability:** Ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment while maintaining focus on critical priorities.
- **Language Skills:** Capable of working effectively in bilingual environments (business-level Japanese and English).

- Demonstrated success in building and leading a midsize team (20+ members) to establish a new function or drive transformational change in a fast-moving organization.
- Experience in scaling operations or processes in a highly dynamic environment, including designing organizational structures and workflows to meet evolving business needs.
- Proven ability to navigate the complexities of launching or expanding operations in Japan, including managing cultural nuances, local regulatory requirements, and market dynamics.
- Strong track record of fostering team engagement and creating a collaborative environment that drives innovation and accountability.
