Job Description
As an Amazon field engineer, you will provide full support for AWS datacenters, from the start of the project to the improvement and maintenance of the facilities. You will be your region's primary engineering resource when they need technical advice, and you'll use your experience in conjunction with other teams to:
• Solve problems, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action Plans (CA) for electromechanical equipment failures.
• Directly support the physical infrastructure operation team with training, operational procedure reviews, and event support.
• Propose existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase energy efficiency, and sustainability.
• Interact with the internal operations, project engineering, hardware engineering, health and safety, and environmental team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in the services provided.
• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographic regions.
• Initiate and lead engineering audits on cooling, power distribution, fire protection, and other systems, including site visits to Amazon data centers.
• Produce technical reports describing availability risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects supporting execution, commissioning, and transfer for operation.

A day in the life
Every day, you'll interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support the availability and security of data center servers, focusing on the most impactful actions. You will have the opportunity to work on local and global projects. Therefore, fluent English is fundamental to this position.

About the team
The Field Engineering team covers the entire lifecycle of data centers, from the initial design to the execution of retrofit plans. Field engineers are generally the first to whom customers contact for technical advice on mechanical, electrical, fire protection and hydraulic solutions.

Typically, the team analyzes field problems to propose local and large scale solutions, avoiding recurrence. In addition, the team collects and analyzes data to propose predictive actions aimed at eliminating risks before they become critical events in the physical infrastructure of data centers.

Basic Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Over 3 cumulative years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities, including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, oil/gas facilities, automotive industry (Experienced engineer)
• Knowledge in troubleshooting and assessing low and medium voltage power distribution systems, short circuit coordination studies, switchgears, breakers and other electrical equipment.
• Fluent English. This position requires interaction with professionals from around the world, whether through meetings, emails, or technical documents.

Preferred Qualifications


• Organized and with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines;
• Possess leadership and problem solving skills;
• Experience in the use of tools for calculation and data processing;
• Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers;
• Experience as a resident engineer or technical design or engineering consultant for the client;
• Knowledge of construction and assembly rules and regulations in your region;
• Experience in reading, interpreting, and creating technical drawings, such as single-line diagrams, and technical specifications of equipment and components, such as breakers, busducts, switchgears and others;
• Have excellent communication and writing skills;
• Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical equipment/projects related to data centers such as HVAC, power distribution, fire protection systems, and others;
• Experience with monitoring systems (EPMS/SCADA/BMS);
• Meets/exceeds the requirements of Amazon's leadership principles;
