**About The Team**

Since launching the service in Japan in Sep. 2016, Uber Eats has become deeply rooted in the local food culture, both shaping and celebrating it, and helping small and large businesses connect with customers. We have seen incredible customer love and acceptance over the past eight years of Uber Eats in Japan. **About the Role**

As the Head of Market Expansion, you will lead the acquisition efforts for existing cities across Japan. You will be responsible for bringing on new merchant partners, managing a large contractor workforce, and significantly improving sales productivity. Your focus will be on implementing robust sales processes, enabling the team through coaching and training, and optimizing performance through tracking and reporting. You’ll report directly to the Director, Head of Japan Acquisition and play a key role in driving the market’s growth and success.

**Your Impact in Role**

- **Drive acquisition targets** \- Own and exceed acquisition targets by developing data-driven sales strategies and ensuring consistent execution across teams.
- **Increase productivity** \- Focus on improving sales productivity, implementing sales processes, coaching the team, and enhancing performance through clear tracking and reporting.
- **Set up sales systems** \- Establish and refine sales strategies, tools, and reporting systems to improve performance and drive significant growth.
- **Market insight** \- Develop a deep understanding of Japan's regional nuances, competitive landscape, and opportunities to drive merchant acquisition.
- **Collaboration -** Work closely with cross-functional teams to align on acquisition strategies, implement best practices, and optimize business outcomes.
- **Coaching & Development -** Build and foster a high-performance culture, focusing on team development, performance improvement, and leadership pipeline growth.
- **Lead a large team** \- Manage close to 200 individuals, including sales teams and contractors, ensuring alignment with acquisition goals and market growth strategies.

**The Experience You'll Bring**

- 10+ years of sales experience, preferably in the SMB or enterprise space.
- 5+ years of experience managing large, high-performing teams (ideally 100+ people).
- Proven track record in driving sales and meeting or exceeding targets.
- Strong leadership and people development skills, with a focus on coaching and enabling teams.
- Proficiency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken).

**Preferred Qualifications**

- Experience in large consumer focused companies or FMCG industries is a plus.
- Strong understanding of the Japanese restaurant landscape and market dynamics.
- A strategic mindset with a deep analytical approach to performance tracking.

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber’s cultural identity.
