Work hard, have fun and make history with Amazon’s Japan Legal Team. We are looking for a smart and motivated individual to provide administrative and paralegal assistance to the Litigation and Regulatory Legal team, which currently consists of 10 attorneys and legal professionals. The position reports to the lead lawyer in the Amazon Japan Litigation and Regulatory Legal Team, a long-term, senior Amazonian lawyer.

Responsibilities include coordinating document filings and production in connection with legal proceedings, drafting correspondence, assisting with document reviews, tracking documents and maintaining case records, supporting introduction of new system tools, doing word processing, performing general office tasks (such as calendaring, filing and budget management), and coordinating other legal and administrative matters directly with internal clients and outside counsel.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to work efficiently and independently; manage a high volume of tasks and projects with tight deadlines; react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround; think creatively; and be proactive in problem solving. The successful candidate will be bilingual in Japanese and English, and client-service oriented, have great attention to detail; strong organizational skills; the ability to easily multitask; possess a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information; and have the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside the company.

Basic Qualifications


- 3+ years of experience working as a legal assistant or paralegal in a law firm or international company.
- Business level English and Japanese skills (oral and written).
- Experience using Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience learning to use new IT tools for expense reporting, legal matter management, legal records management, etc.
- Experience managing calendars and scheduling large meetings with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications


- Experience working proactively and independently, meeting deadlines, and delivering on projects and tasks
- Experience managing a high volume of requests and competing deadlines
- Experience drafting and processing documents in connection with litigations or legal proceedings is a plus (but not required).
