Job Description
We are seeking a candidate with a passion for entrepreneurship and a desire to make a real impact on global customers in a Day One business. Our mission is clear: to expand the successful footprint of Japan Sellers globally through developing strategies that leverage technical automation to address Japanese Sellers' pain points and expand their businesses in overseas markets, as well as creating an environment that promotes Japanese Sellers' expansion into global marketplaces by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
This role offers the opportunity to create large-scale social impact by supporting a wide range of Japanese Sellers, from major brands to small and medium-sized enterprises, in their overseas expansion and achieving success in global markets. It also provides the challenging opportunity to develop innovative business models by fusing an international perspective with a deep understanding of the Japanese market.
Key job responsibilities
-Develop and architect comprehensive expansion strategies, including target categories, high-potential seller segments, and market entry plans, to dramatically accelerate global sales growth.
-Build and continuously strengthen a high-performing team of 10 or more members to execute on the global expansion initiatives, attracting top talent and developing team members' capabilities.
-Spearhead the identification of challenges faced by Japanese sellers looking to expand their businesses globally, and devise innovative solutions to address those challenges.
-Forge strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including brand owners, marketplace partners, and cross-functional leaders, to enable successful global expansion initiatives.
-Leverage data-driven insights to continuously refine the global selling strategy and tactics, ensuring maximum impact and return on investment.
-Set visionary yet achievable goals for the team, and instill a culture of accountability to exceed those ambitious targets.
-Foster a collaborative, innovative team environment centered on a growth mindset and a shared passion for driving the business forward.
-Develop comprehensive documentation and reporting to track progress, communicate key insights, and inform senior management decisions.
-Engage regularly with senior leadership to present strategic recommendations, secure buy-in, and align on priorities.
Basic Qualifications
- Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
- 8+ years of experience in a sales leadership or strategic account management role. Proven track record of leading successful global expansion efforts is preferable but not necessary.
- Exceptional team management skills, with the ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
- Deep, nuanced understanding of the Japanese and global e-commerce landscape, including a keen awareness of evolving seller needs and marketplace dynamics.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with the strategic vision to translate insights into transformative growth strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong project management and documentation skills to track progress, measure impact, and inform key business decisions.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a relentless drive to achieve ambitious business objectives.
