AMXL (Amazon Extra Large) JP is looking for a Senior Manager, Fulfillment for setting up and leading the team for the inbound, fulfillment and supply chain for Amazon's end-to-end Heavy & Bulky (H&B) logistics network in Japan. The ideal candidate would have a strong delivery record and senior leadership experience to setup the Amazon Fulfillment network to ultimately drive the best customer experience in a fast, reliable and cost-efficient manner, every time.

As a leader of a core function of AMXL JP, you will be shaping the network, executing, developing and applying innovative supply chain management concepts. This role requires working across cross-functional teams within and outside Japan. This role would expand and setup the fulfillment side of the network defining and delivering results on key metrics, driving automation and requirements for systems enhancements. This position involves regular communication with senior management spanning strategy to execution. People management, project management and executive presentation skills are essential.

The successful candidate will have a "Day 1" mindset who loves building with a deep cross-functional background in multiple aspects of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, to include but not limited to Supply chain flow design and execution, Supply chain IT business requirements, Business implementation, Logistics and warehouse operations experience, Industrial engineering and Capacity design expertise. P&L Management experience and strong financial acumen are a plus.

The successful candidate will thrive in a constantly evolving business environment and work well with cross functional teams. This individual will use their data analysis skills and expertise in planning and execution to lead solutions to complex fulfillment challenges. They will be able to quickly analyze large data sets to identify complex patterns and relationships resulting in operational solutions. This role offers an opportunity to make business-critical decisions that will minimize fulfillment costs while continuing to increase the speed at which we deliver our customers’ orders. The role is both a planning and execution role, meaning the successful candidate will not only generate the plan but also deliver on it building fulfillment capabilities via a combination of Amazon owned or third party operated fulfillment centers, vendor-based fulfillment or direct fulfillment.

Key job responsibilities
• Own and deliver operational budget for functional area, including safety, productivity, financial and labor planning, and operational goals for inbound and outbound operations
• Responsible for providing strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out), including labor planning, rate forecasting, and peak season planning
• Be accountable for operational leadership by measuring performance, offering feedback, and providing development support
• Drive continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve productivity to meet and exceed business objectives; work on strategic projects that have total building and network-wide impact
• Communicate with other leaders across the network to solicit and share process improvements and drive efficiencies and cost savings
• Establish objectives and metrics for safety, quality, availability, productivity, cost and customer experience
• Works closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other Site Leaders/General Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives, as well as providing needed support and resources for other network initiatives

A day in the life
You spend time visiting or building multiple Amazon owned or third party fulfillment centers and sort centers in Japan reviewing the operations and setting up the right processes and mechanisms to drive safety, cost, speed and availability at every instance. You hire, develop and motivate your team to deliver against the same goals using the Amazon leadership principles that you truly embody with all your actions.

Alternatively, you spend time working with our retail teams, S&OP team, finance, tech, supply chain managers on your team and external sellers to build the best fulfillment strategy for H&B items to be delivered to customers across Japan in the fastest way at the lowest cost ensuring availability of all products, all of the time across all of Japan.

Our delivery partners are experienced in H&B deliveries, providing special handling services such as Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly and Recycling/Haul-Away.

Our team is made up of a diverse group of individuals across operations, supply chain, tech, finance, planning, customer experience, business intelligence and program management that work closely and collaboratively across Amazon to constantly improve and scale our operations, always insisting on the highest standards and obsessing over delivering bigger smiles for our customers.

Basic Qualifications


- Bachelors' degree
- 10+ years of work experience
- Business level of English
- People management experience
- Experience using analytical skills to problem solve, end to end process management and track record of successfully delivering quantifiable results
- Experience with data modeling, forecasting and presenting ideas with documents or presentations
- The ability to lead and execute through performance metrics, process improvement, or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies with the ability to influence peers and drive continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications


- MBA/ Masters in Operations/ Finance
- 15+ years of work experience
- Supply chain/ Logistics planning/ Consulting experience
- Experience managing large teams of experienced professionals and managers
- Business level of Japanese
