Our operations help everything to come together at Amazon. Our Site Leaders are responsible for all safety, budgetary, people development and operations objectives for an entire Sort Center (SC). Responsibilities include managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench strength within the SC.

Key job responsibilities
- Own and deliver the operational budget for the whole SC, including safety, productivity, financial planning, labor planning, and operational goals
- Provide strategic level/long-term planning (3, 6, and 12 months out) including labor planning, rate forecasting, and peak season planning
- Set clear goals and expectations for Operations and Area Managers
- Measure performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountable
- Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and ultimately the SC to meet and exceed business plan
- Leverage the Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and rolling them into the creation of improvement plans for the functional area
- Take proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments, shifts and among the network
- Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other Site Leaders/General Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives, as well as providing needed support and resources for other network initiatives

A day in the life
You’ll be based at one of our operational sites. Spending lots of time on site will help you develop your team and collaborate on operational planning. This role has two sides. You’ll manage and motivate a team of leaders. At the same time, you’ll focus on long-term objectives. This includes creating contingency plans to keep operations running and mitigate against disruptions and driving initiatives that boost quality, safety and productivity. You’ll be a source of accountability and a business-wide champion of best practice.

Basic Qualifications


- Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience
- 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
- Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations.
- English and Spanish proficiency, both written and oral

Preferred Qualifications


- Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred
- Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations
- Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple operations across the nation
