AWS Marketplace (http://aws.amazon.com/marketplace) enables millions of AWS customers to easily find, subscribe to, and immediately use third-party data and software products in the cloud. Our job is to bring Amazon's e-commerce expertise to cloud software and revolutionize how software is discovered and consumed in the cloud.

We are looking for a senior Business Leader to incubate-scale the AWS Marketplace business in Japan. Acting as AWS Marketplace subject-matter-expert (SME) or service specialist, you will work closely with AWS sales, partner sales and Marketplace teams to drive adoption of AWS Marketplace with AWS customers in Japan. You will develop go-to-market strategies, playbooks and mechanisms to build a scalable joint AWS-Partner-Customer engagement model through AWS Marketplace to ensure AWS and its partners can meet local customer requirements and grow the business.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing AWS Marketplace as a growth pillar of the overall AWS business in Japan. You will develop mechanisms to establish new business in target market segments, and work with the Japan field organization to drive the day-to-day interactions of identifying prospects for long-term business opportunities. As a Marketplace SME, you will support the AWS field & Partners team with internal-external enablement, day-to-day customer interactions and complex engagements requiring deep subject-matter-expertise. You’ll also be a strong voice of the customer working closely with product teams to help mature our Marketplace offering and address issues, concerns, and requests from customers.

The ideal candidates must be enthusiastic about working with external and internal customers, and about learning how to use third-party software products and data services to implement solutions to empower customers and scale the existing platform. This role requires a broad leader who is part market maker, part operator and part seller. Experience in market development of cloud infrastructure and/or enterprise applications is essential, as is the willingness to operate in a multi-faceted way and take a hands-on approach. Understanding of B2B Software procurement is a plus.

You should have a strong technology background, as well as strong business development skills that enable you to engage at the customer executive level. You will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the business, product, customer engagement and technical challenges facing AWS Marketplace as well as AWS Customers & Partners. This position has a high level of external and internal visibility. You will need to be able to communicate clearly and compellingly both in writing and through your presentation skills.

Basic Qualifications


- Fluency in Japanese, Business level English.
- 7+ years of experience in business development, market development, strategic partnerships, or program/product management relating to infrastructure and cloud technology.
- Experience working within the enterprise software Industry, with a deep understanding of cloud computing, SaaS business principles and practices, utility pricing models, and technology trends
- Track record of building rapport with senior customer executives (e.g. CEO, CIO, CTO), building close relationships, and closing opportunities with key, strategic accounts.

Preferred Qualifications


- MBA, Technical Master’s or Graduate Degree
- Prior experience growing software business
- Experience working with new product and service development teams
- Experience with cloud computing, cloud software deployment, Software-as-a-Service
- Excellent problem solving and collaboration skills.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to cross functional audiences.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multi-functional teams, and to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
