Key job responsibilities
- Responsible for managing day-to-day Tax Compliance reporting for key Amazon group entities. This includes overseeing tax activities related to ICMS, ICMS-ST, IPI, PIS, COFINS, ISS, and the submission of ancillary obligations ('obrigações acessórias') such as CIAP, GIA, Sped-Fiscal, GIS, EC, Inventory, Bloco K, and EFD Contribuições, among others. Additionally, responsible for coordinating tax compliance activities, ensuring adherence to company deadlines and internal controls.
- Working closely with cross function teams and designing or improving tax compliant processes.
- Evaluating the tax effect and implications of business initiatives, contemplated transactions, and business proposals, from a tax compliance perspective. Also, active participation in company projects, resolving doubts and proposing tax paths and solutions.
- Working on various projects impacting the future strategy of the indirect tax function to minimize/mitigate adverse litigation.
- This role is expected to create and review company metrics, manage taxes, and identify potential risks.
- Work with other stakeholders, including Accounting, to prepare tax calculation records, reconcile tax returns, and ensure accuracy.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- Master's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
- +10 years of relevant tax experience in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm;
- Significant experience in Brazil (ICMS, ICMS ST, PIS, COFINS and ISS), international taxation concepts, and knowledge of VAT in LATAM is a plus;
- Understanding of or practical experience related to digital and marketplace businesses;
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex tax laws in a business setting, both in Portuguese and English, including the ability to communicate effectively, participate in daily video conferences, write, and understand emails. Spanish proficiency is a plus for the position;
- Knowledge in Oracle and Synchro;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required (you'll be tested on your Excel skills).
Preferred Qualifications
- SQL, Alteryx, Python, skills is a plus for the position.
