ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Director, Production Manager to join Audible Studios in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end production and delivery of premium Japanese audio content, with a primary focus on audiobooks.
As the Associate Director, Production Manager, you will...
- Oversee the production process, including approvals, budgets, coordination with partners and quality control to meet deadlines and maintain high artistic and technical standards
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, making necessary adjustments to align with best practices for a dynamic, project-driven environment
- Identify and resolve project-specific issues using effective tracking and resolution processes
- Select and coordinate vendors and external studios, handling talent scheduling and contract management
- Onboard new vendors and partners to expand the studio network and attract emerging creators, ensuring alignment with guidelines
- Collaborate with the team to explore and integrate new technologies, driving operational efficiencies and innovative workflows
- Liaise with publishing partners to ensure accurate audio interpretations of transcripts and
- Oversee and support producers with studio recordings
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely production and delivery of outstanding listening experiences for our customers
- Manage day-to-day production processes across multiple new and ongoing audio projects, collaborating with production partners to ensure productions are on schedule and on budget
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party studios to ensure a smooth production process for episodes and deliverables
- Build and maintain production calendars, budgets, contracts, and facilitate the timely delivery of all assets

Basic Qualifications
- Experience as a Production Manager in the media/entertainment industry
- Experience in project management
- Experience in the Japanese audio production landscape
- Experience in content production and development within a commercial media environment, with expertise in managing partnerships and overseeing end-to-end content production
- Experience in agile project management and content workflows
- Experience in Excel, Airtable, and other relevant tools
- Business Fluency in Japanese and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in production with a focus on audio content
- Results-driven and adaptable, thriving in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environments where exceptional organizational and communication skills are key to successful project execution
- Keen eye for detail and critical thinking
- Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects and balance priorities under tight deadlines
- Experience in the publishing industry, such as literary publications, magazines, or websites
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge spanning diverse content genres and formats
- Familiarity with Digital Asset Management (DAM) tools for monitoring production delivery
