Associate Principal, Analytics, Ads Insights
Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated analytics and insights expert to help scale our growing ads business. The role is a key member of the Sales organization, working closely with Sales, Product, Retail teams as well as our external ads customers. The role utilizes the wide range of unique data across Amazon and translate it into high-quality and actionable insights and recommendations to improve our external customers' (advertisers) full funnel ads performance on Amazon. Day to day, the role's activities include analyzing ads and business data, applying data science or marketing science methodologies, developing insights and recommendations for both Sales teams and advertisers, and presenting insights in C-suite advertiser leadership meetings.
Key job responsibilities
- Leverage Amazon’s wide range of data to develop analytical assets and insight narratives
- Own advertiser-level analytics related strategic conversations internally and externally
- Present findings and insights in a consultative way to advertisers and collaborate with the relevant internal teams in order to provide a complete solution
- Provide data-driven guidance to C-suite advertiser leaders, via business reviews and frequent in-person advertiser presentations, to regularly iterate on and articulate a brand’s strategy and influence their marketing initiatives
- Demonstrate good analytical ability, and develop great expertise in Amazon’s proprietary tools and metrics, working to constantly evolve how we analyze and communicate data driven insights to our advertisers

About the team
The Analytics & Insights team is a key member of the Amazon Ads Sales organization. We provide analytics-driven Sales enablement support internally as well as insights-based consulting for advertisers. Our team deliver impactful insights incorporating knowledge of existing measurement and product capabilities. We innovate to stay ahead of industry trends and cater to diverse advertiser/agency needs. We enable scaling of insights through strategic partnerships with product and engineering team.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to write complex SQL queries from scratch, extract and manipulate data, and create new measures and metrics
- Fluency with Python, R, SAS, etc. and ability to run or ramp up on statistical modelling and testing in one of the above languages
- Solid understanding of Data Science and Marketing Science subjects such as regression, hypothesis testing and audience analysis
- Ability to work cross-functionally and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Comfortable presenting complex analysis in an easy to digest way to stakeholders and C-suite level advertisers
- Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin and English; fluency in Japanese is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in delivering client facing projects in a consultancy role
- Experience with project management or technical product management
- Experience with advertising publishers, marketing/creative agencies or digital media planning
- Publication track record/writing experience (ex. published a paper in a technical journal or trade publication)
- MBA, Master’s or Doctoral degree in Economics, Marketing, Statistics, Advertising, or Business
