Program Manager, Launch & Expansion, Amazon Flex

At Amazon, we are building a world-class last mile operation, significantly complimented by our new service, which works directly with independent contractors – called delivery partners – to make deliveries to our customers. With this new last mile delivery service (Amazon Flex), individuals can now be their own boss delivering Amazon packages. It is powered by a mobile app that works in concert with our advanced logistics systems that allows delivery partners to on board, schedule delivery times, guide them through their deliveries with in-app mapping and navigation, and more. The approach and technology are nothing short of disruptive, and promise to challenge traditional approaches, and change the way the industry operates.
We are continuing to build a high paced and lean Japan team to implement and expand our last mile capabilities across key segments of Japan Transportation business. Amazon is now looking to hire an experienced Program manager to lead new sites launches in a new jurisdiction, sites operation methodology conversion or legacy sites that requires a new Flex channel development across AMZL, SSD or AGL business. The Program Manager will own the flex channel launch processes from planning stage to post launch ramp-up phase graduation. This would mean
- Understanding the launch type/location and implications for Flex,
- Ensuring smooth implementation of Flex launch playbook tasks
- Owning expected launch metrics like Safety, Quality, Driver experience, volume commitment delivery and cost for the newly launched sites and
- Smoothly transitioning the sites to BAU Flex Field Operations program manager.
The individual will be required to influence teams to ensure resources are prioritized for the actions identified. This will be done without a clear roadmap not always being in place and the Program Manager will need to create and drive this roadmap with support of Senior Program managers. This is a highly collaborative role where you will work with AMZL Launch Execution Management, AMZL Planning, Delivery Stations and internal Flex teams as capacity planning, field operations, programs and marketing. You are expected to ensure that launch processes are carried out effectively and efficiently, to meet expected launch targets and ensuring long term success of Flex channel. They are trusted to present decisions to leaders up to higher level, write 3-pagers, input into MBRs and QBRs documents. The role requires management and delivery through themselves and stakeholder teams, requiring the manager to be effective at alignment through virtual and written communication.

Key job responsibilities
Key responsibilities:

- Owner of all delivery station launch related actions from Flex;
- Ensure that the Flex launch playbook tasks are carried out on time;
- Collaborate with AMZL Launch Execution Management team, AMZL planning, delivery stations and internal flex teams to meet the launch objectives;
- Drive key discussions on tradeoffs needed to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term success of Flex channel;
- Owner of key metrics related to Safety, DPX, quality, volume, cost during the launch phase of a delivery station for flex channel;

Basic Qualifications


- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business or related field
- 5+ years of experience in project/program management
- 2+ years of owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating or reporting to senior leadership
- Excellence in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration;
- English language ability to communicate verbally and in writing (business level)

Preferred Qualifications


- Japanese language ability to communicate verbally
- Experience in coding SQL
- Experience of working in last mile delivery stations
